New Delhi: The recent attack by the US troops in Gulf of Oman coast killed three Indian sailors. The incident happens to be the third attack on Indian marine merchants this month, to which the Indian External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar spoke out to the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"Such lethal actions against commercial shipping are not justified," he said. India on Friday summoned Charge d'Affaires Jason Meeks and told him that the American military's lethal strikes on commercial vessels with Indian crew members off the coast of Oman are unacceptable.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) officials described the action as a military operation and stated that the ship allegedly violated the US blockade of Iranian ports and failed to comply with repeated warnings. According to US statements, the strike targeted the ship's engine room rather than the crew.
